Music at Miller

Looking to take music lessons? Come to The Miller Center and sign up for lessons instructed by local music professionals. Learn your favorite song and how to handle an acoustic and/or acoustic instrument.

WHEN: Starting in June. 45 minute sessions – times are available in the morning and afternoon. *Days and times vary depending on the instrument.

COST: Individual – $160 (Eight Weekly Sessions) *All participants must have the $15 Admin Fee (one-time fee).

*Instruments are not provided (excluding Taiko Drums and Hand Drums).

Class minimum – 4

Class maximum – 10-12

What lessons are offered?

Vocal Technique, Group Performance, Acoustic Guitar, Mountain Dulcimer, Penny Whistle, Mandolin, Ukulele, Tune Writing, Harmonica, Five String Bluegrass, Recorder, Flute, Taiko Drums, Hand Drums and more.


About the Instructors:

Stacia Abematha – Stacia is a local performing artist and vocal instructor at the Uptown Music Collective. This year Stacia will be attending her third Silkroad Global Musician Workshop at The DePauw University School of Music.

Lessons to be taught by Stacia include beginner Vocal Technique, Group Performance and beginner Acoustic Guitar.

Alf Bashore – Alf began his love of music at the early age of mine, which has progressed through six decades. While playing an array of instruments, he has been teaching for the past 35 years. Alf is the co-founder of Off the Wall Dulcimer Society and Frosty Valley Dulcimer Friends and founder of the Iron Ukulele Benders Club.

Lessons to be taught by Alf include Mountain Dulcimer, Mandolin, Ukulele, Guitar, Tune Writing, beginner Guitar, beginner Harmonica and beginner Penny Whistle.

Mark Doncheski – Mark has been playing the Five Finger Guitar for more than 50 years and the Bluegrass Banjo for more than 30 years. He has been played in the local Bluegrass band “Stained Glass Window” for 25 years and now plays with the “Strawberry Ridge” band.

Lessons to be taught by Marck include the Five String Bluegrass.

Flora Eyster – Flora studied classical and modern music at Bard College. She played the Flute for over 35 years. Flora has been teaching students from the past 35 years in high school and the at the college level.

Lessons to be taught by Flora include the Recorder and Flute.

Urie Kline – Urie is an active performer serving as a drummer for several ensembles of varying sizes and styles. He is currently at Lycoming College, Jersey Shore High School, and Robert M Sides in Williamsport.

Lessons to be taught by Urie include the Taiko Drums and Hard Drums (instruments included in lessons).

Tim Breon – Tim is an active instructor of Music and Technology at Lycoming College, instructor of Fundamentals of Audio at Susquehanna University and instructor of the bass guitar at the Uptown Music Collective.

Lessons to be taught by Time include Fundamentals of Audio, Guitar, Bass Guitar and String Bass.

Mark Peterson – Mark has been playing the drum set since his childhood and is very knowledgeable of all styles of music.

Lessons to be taught by Mark include the Drums, Snare Drums, Drum Set Technique and Basic Theory.
