Member of the Month: Swan Stull

Posted Posted in Miller Center

March 30, 2018
The Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness salute our members with our Member of the Month feature. This month, we congratulate Swan Stull of Lewisburg. When Swan first met MCRW personal trainer Lis Reitz, she said she was looking for help with what she called her “jello-like muscles, iffy knees and bad back.” Swan elaborates, “Lis studied my problem, created a fitness program for me to strengthen my body, become core-strong, and be able to do maintenance at home or away.”
Swan loves working out at The Miller Center. “The Miller Center introduced me to a whole new level of state-of-the-art equipment! Tom Reitz taught me how to use the TRX equipment and I love it. Now Lis adds it to my workouts. I even bought one for home and travel use!”
“Lis also encouraged me to include exercise into my daily life, like parking as far away from the entrance as I can at a grocery or big box store, and walking the cart all the way back.” While Swan still experiences a problem now and then, the overall improvements have been dramatic. “Since Lis has created a flexible and dynamic workout for me, I am never bored and always feel stronger and happy. My knee is still arthritic and my vertebrae still ‘slip’, but we do exercises that strengthen rather than aggravate them. It is a challenging work-out, but the payoff is priceless.”
Swan credits Lis and Tom Reitz at The Miller Center for also improving her mood. “I am determined, have more energy, and have fun becoming physically and mentally healthier. Miller Center and Lis rock! Fist bumps all around!”
Fist bump, to you too, Swan! We’re so happy that you’re feeling well and we’ll see you back here at The Miller Center.
For being our April 2018 Member of the Month, Swan will receive a $25 gift certificate to our Cornerstone Kitchen, a Miller Center water bottle, and a reserved parking spot.
To nominate one of our members or employees to be recognized, please send an email to Robin Barth at robin.barth@millerrec.org.

Director of Communications Drew Kelly to succeed James Mathias

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness announced today that Drew Kelly, currently Director of Sales, Communications and Marketing, will succeed James P. Mathias as Executive Director of their 96,000+ square foot facility in East Buffalo Township.  Mathias will remain involved through the completion of construction, and will join the board of directors in 2018.

Mathias, the Center’s founding Executive Director, began his involvement in October 2012 overseeing funding, construction and initial operational phases. He remarked, “I am so proud of what we have accomplished thus far and having Drew Kelly at the helm is a perfect fit for the organization moving forward. Joining such a talented group of individuals on the Board and helping to chart the course for the future of the Miller Center is very exciting to me.”

Kelly, who will immediately begin working with Mathias in a transitional capacity, said, “I’m extremely honored to lead this amazing facility and carry out the vision of a premier health and wellness resource for the region. Jim has done an incredible job making the center a reality.  I’m extremely grateful that I’ll continue to benefit from his knowledge and expertise in the interim.”

Family representative Matthew Miller said, “We cannot thank Jim enough for his involvement with this project. From day one, he treated this Center as if it were his own, exhibiting an attention to detail that ensured our success before we opened our doors. Jim’s involvement ensured this project became a reality.  We’re elated that he will continue as a board member.  We are equally as enthusiastic to have a talented and seasoned team member in Drew Kelly who can step in and keep us on a course of continued success.”
