Women on Weights – NOW with morning and evening classes!

Our popular “Women on Weights” class has expanded to now offer morning and evening sessions. Anthony Hauck is back to lead the class and spots are going fast so sign up today!

Women do not get BULKY by lifting weights. This class will teach you fundamentals of weight lifting while helping you achieve your fitness goals through strength training. Throughout the class, you’ll work with free weights, medicine balls, resistance bands, and other exercises to improve general strength and conditioning. This 6-week program will provide guidance on basic workout principles, exercises and strengthening different muscle groups.

The morning classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM and run from October 10, 2018 to November 16, 2017.

Evening classes are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM and run from October 16, 2018 to November 22, 2017.

Miller Center Café is coming together

The Café here at the Miller Center is coming together quickly and we’ve got an update on what’s going on. Today, our state-of-the-art pizza oven arrived from Maryland. The oven, manufactured by Marra Forni, is gas-fired and has nearly 7 square feet of cooking surface, enough to cook four large pizzas at a time.

The Café will feature delicious, healthy meals, grab & go items, salads, smoothies, cappuccino beverages and more.

Miller Center now offering homeschool gym classes

The Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness is now offering gym classes for kids that are part of a homeschool program. The program will set out to help create well-rounded children while they learn different sports and have fun. There will also be a focus on developing three major character traits: Respect, Responsibility and Safety.

Feature sports for Fall 2017 include basketball, soccer, kickball, wiffleball, volleyball and hockey.

The Miller Center announces partnerships with local organizations

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness is pleased to announce its partnership with two well-known and established organizations, North Union United Soccer Club and Bison Field Hockey Club. Both programs will use the Miller Center as its home base during the winter months to run leagues, camps, clinics and tournaments. “We are excited to have two premiere organizations teaming with us to create a center that can provide a variety of sports to our community as well as quality instruction and development for each sport,” said Kyle Snyder, the Sports and Recreation Director.

Bison Field Hockey will have training for all ages and ability levels. You can sign up now at http://bvrec.org/bison-field-hockey/. These clinics and camps focus on very individualized training and attention. Training for field hockey will be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Tournaments will be held at the Miller Center on December 17th and February 10th. The Bison Field Hockey Club is organized by Jeremy and Sandra Cook. Jeremy is currently serving as the Head Coach at Bucknell University and has played and coached at the international level for 25 years. Sandra served as an assistant coach at multiple universities and also played indoor for the United State Women’s National Team. “Jeremy and I are thrilled that the Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness will be the new home for the Bison Field Hockey Club.  This state of the art venue will help to grow the game in our area of Central PA. Partnering with three non-profit community based organizations; like the United States Field Hockey Association, Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority and now the Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness allows us to serve the community through the sport that we love.” Cook said.

North Union United Soccer Club will also be hosting a sanctioned league, tournament and clinics for coaches and players. The sanctioned league will be operating as the Tri-County Futsal League this winter. Games will be played from November to February. Tournaments will be held in the new year. The league is accepting new teams at www.nuunited.com/futsal. The president of NUU, Darsh Bhangdia, said, “NUU is proud to announce a partnership with the Miller Center to bring futsal to the area. Futsal is fast paced soccer on a hard court with a small ball that encourages foot skills and passing. It is a

 

wonderful opportunity to develop skills and have fun.  It is open to all NUU teams in addition to the surrounding town teams and clubs. It will begin in November and run through the end of January”.
